Viktor Birgersson is the Managing Director of MIX Research Sweden and a specialist in eDNA-based analytical methods. He has a background in marine environmental consultancy and has worked with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), permitting processes, and biological investigations related to offshore wind and other marine infrastructure projects. In these projects, he early on integrated eDNA as a methodology to complement and enhance traditional survey approaches.

Viktor is responsible for the entire molecular analysis workflow – from DNA extraction to bioinformatic processing of sequence data. His work is characterized by strict quality control, method validation, and reproducible workflows adapted to regulatory contexts. He also leads the planning and execution of eDNA projects in both aquatic and terrestrial environments.

As Managing Director, he oversees the company’s scientific quality assurance, method development, and strategic direction within eDNA-based environmental monitoring. He works closely with clients across the energy, infrastructure, conservation, and public sectors to ensure that analyses and decision-support data are robust, aligned with regulatory requirements, and tailored to the practical and time-sensitive demands of each project.
